USI Northeast offices in West Orange, NJ and New York, NY recently raised over $2,000 in just a few short days to support relief efforts in the Houston, TX area in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
USI Managing Consultant Sophia Murphy administers the employee benefits for Hermann Total Distribution Services. Upon learning of Hermanns’ mission to mobilize their trucks in early September to bring goods and resources to Houston, she took charge to get USI Northeast involved.
Murphy collected donations from staff, filling shopping carts at Target & Amazon, and assisted Hermann Services in filling their trucks with necessary goods for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. She also reached out to insurance company contacts and received generous donations from carriers in the Northeast marketplace. Enough money was raised to fill an entire van of goods. Below is a summary of the regional donations:
- 100+ men’s athletic socks for first responders
- Hundreds of lbs. of dog food
- 15+ pillows
- 15+ blankets
- 250 razors
- 33 – 23oz containers of baby formula
- 5+ boxes of diapers
- 1800 baby wipes
- 24 ladies’ deodorants
- 18 mens’ deodorants
- Plus over 3000 toothbrushes from Guardian and Delta Dental and toiletry packages from Cigna.
Hermann Services departed Dayton, NJ for Houston on September 6, 2017 with FIVE trucks filled with goods from USI Northeast and other generous donors. With an additional load planned for dissemination this coming weekend, USI supplied $1,500 in donations for Hermann to continue the direct distribution of resources to those in need.
As hurricanes and natural disasters continue to impact our country, USI Northeast supports our colleagues and fellow Americans that are affected by these storms.
