MTA Raising Fares in March

MTA logoThe Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) is raising fares effective March 22, 2015. The base fare on subways and New York City buses will be raised by a quarter, to $2.75, and the cost of a 30-day MetroCard by $4.50, to $116.50.

Increases will also be applied to the MTA Staten Island Railway, MTA Long Island Rail Road, MTA Metro-North Railroad, as well as MTA bridges and tunnels.

Employers with transit programs in New York may wish to contact their transit vendor in order to confirm deadlines that will affect April passes. Employees who utilize these benefits are encouraged to be proactive to make sure their pre- and/or post-tax deductions are approporiately applied so there isnt a lapse in the benefit.
